Lancaster County PA – Engagement – Greta + Jared

This past weekend Rosanne and I had the opportunity to travel down to PA to photograph an engagement session for Rosanne’s sister Greta and her fiance Jared. Engagement sessions are a great opportunity for the couple to get better acquainted with our shooting style, and an opportunity for us to work with the couple in a fun, relaxed, environment before the busyness of the wedding day. We really enjoy these sessions and were looking forward to getting to spend some more time with the newest member of the family.

Photographing a wedding for a family member is a special treat. Rosanne and I shot my sister’s wedding a couple of years ago and when Greta asked Rosanne and I to shoot her wedding this fall we were honored and excited. This wedding will be different for me in that Rosanne will be standing with the bride during the ceremony. Rosanne and I have shot every wedding together up to this point and I was feeling kind of happy/sad knowing I am flying solo for much of the day. I am happy that Rosanne will be able to stand with her sister but sad that I am am working without my better half. Greta, on top of the situation suggested asking Vanessa Good, a friend from Church, to shoot with us. Vanessa joined us on the engagement shoot and we were impressed by her attention to detail, creative eye, and a calm spirit making her a joy to have around. Look for some her images below.

We spent the bulk of the shoot in Lancaster County although we finished up with some shots at the old homestead in Lebanon County. The first group of shots were done just South of Schaefferstown, PA at the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area. Greta found a fun brick building to shoot against along with some fun grassy fields.

We left the brick building and its rusted green door and headed down to Lititz Park in Lititz PA. If you get a chance to get to Lititz, make sure you stop in at the Wilber Chocolate Factory and pick up some dark chocolate Wilber buds. On the edge of the park is a train station that made for some fun shots along with various shots in the park itself.

After stopping by Starbucks for a refresher, we headed back to Lebanon County where we finished up the shoot at the old homestead. Just before sunset is one of my favorite times to shoot and the light was so warm and soft. We had been shooting a while but Greta and Jared braved the paparazzi one last time and we came away with some of my favorite shots of the day.

Greta and Jared, thank you so much for sharing an afternoon with us! With Jared living out in Colorado, we know your time together is precious, and we are excited we were able to capture some images for you. We are looking forward to your wedding and are so excited to be able to share in the joy of your wedding day. Vanessa, thanks for shooting with us. It was a pleasure getting to know you a little bit and we are excited to be shooting with you later this fall.

Jared selected the music for the slideshow below. I had never heard “My Heart Belongs to You” by Hayley Westenra before Jared selected the song. The song is beautiful and is a perfect for a beautiful couple.

Love you guys,
