A Night in Bethlehem

On December 20th, Risen King Alliance Church, put on an event for the community called “A night in Bethlehem”.  Mother nature, in the spirit of the season, covered the county with 6-8 inches of snow the night before the event blanketing Bethlehem in a winter wonderland.

The church staff along with countless number of volunteers poured themselves into the production and did an incredible job of transforming the church into the town of Bethlehem complete with an outdoor live Nativity scene. Even with the  snow and 20 degree weather, over 80 children plus their families came out to enjoy all the hard work.

While the weather prevented live animals at the Nativity, there was plenty of other activities going on inside the town of Bethlehem.

The Bakery

Welcome to Bethlehem!

Inside the building, the crew transformed each room in the town of Bethlehem.  There was a bakery, a pottery shop, and jewelry store to name a few. Each location provided an activity or craft for the children to take part in.  The main hallway between the rooms was also decorated like a street in bible times.  Each member of the church taking part in the production was provided with a handmade costume.

The night ended with a time of singing Christmas Carols in the main sanctuary.  As the night drew to a close and the guests started to leave, you could feel the anticipation and excitement building as groups of staff and guests started talking about what could grow to be an annual event at Risen KIng Alliance Church.
